“Our call center switch depends on Rio Networks and I’ve never had a complaint. They’ve been great.”

With professional basketball pre-season games just around the corner, Rio Networks is working behind the scenes at the Portland Trail Blazers to make the experience for fans, vendors and partners a smooth and seamless one. Rio Networks, an Oregon owned and operated phone, data, colocation and cloud services provider, is providing Internet, phone and data services to the Portland Trail Blazers professional basketball team.

“All of our voice communications run through Rio,” said Lou Pollotta, telecommunications manager for the Trail Blazers. “We use interactive intelligence on our call center switch and we plan to move to Voice-over-Internet-Protocol soon. The best feature is Rio assigned me an engineer and he makes my life easier. I get everything we need from one person. When I need to move a DID number, it’s handled with a single phone call.”

The Portland Trail Blazers were recently recognized for having the best public relations staff in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and have won various service awards. They have sold out 192 consecutive games in the Rose Garden Arena and have a very busy telecommunications operation. The Trail Blazers maintain multiple offices, including administrative services at the Rose Garden, that use Rio Networks telephony and data services for Internet connectivity. “Our call center switch depends on Rio Networks and I’ve never had a complaint,” says Pallotta. ‘They’ve been great.”

“The telecom solution for the Portland Trail Blazers demonstrates the right combination of software and cloud services that provide mission critical applications to make their organization a successful competitor,” said Mark Bilton-Smith, president of Rio Networks. “We’re able to leverage our robust primary rate interface (PRI) lines to give them reliable, redundant, best-in-class phone and Internet service with the reliability and speed they require. As their business thrives and grows with VoIP services, we’re poised and ready to roll. We’re extremely proud they have chosen us for their telecom partner.”

The Portland Trailblazers play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the NBA with the first home game against the L.A. Lakers on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
