No More Poverty and co-founders Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi support Playing For Change Day, a global event that uses music to change the world.

No More Poverty and its co-founders Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi are pleased to have helped support Playing For Change Day, a world-wide musical event that benefited the non-profit organization Playing For Change Foundation. Playing For Change Day was held September 22, 2012. It was a creative day of action that used the universal power of music with 244 events scheduled in 46 countries around the globe. Musicians performed on stages, street corners, at schools, yoga studios, and cafes to bring music into the lives of children to promote positive social change everywhere.

“Music is an incredibly powerful means of uniting all types of people with a common purpose and vision of the future,” says Dr. Michael Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “The global connections made during this event, and every day by Playing For Change Foundation through its music programs, are forceful agents of change and hope for the future. My brother and I are drawn to expressions of creativity like this and are very happy to be supporting the event.”

The Playing For Change Foundation (playingforchange.org) is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. Established in 2007, the nonprofit’s mission is to create positive change through music and arts education. It supports music schools and programs that are created and operated by local communities and then purposefully connects those communities around the world. To date, Playing For Change Foundation has approximately 600 children participating in regular music instruction within eight music schools in South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Rwanda, and Nepal. The organization is expanding worldwide with plans for new programs in America and Thailand.

No More Poverty (nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization with a pending 501(c)3 application founded by brothers Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas.

No More Poverty does not accept monetary support, but instead encourages direct donations to the charities featured on nmp.org. For more information, please visit Facebook/nmp.org or nmp.org.
