Green Apple Flooring company isn’t just intent on improving people’s homes. They have vowed to change people’s lives, too. In fact, the flooring specialists are so passionate about improving others’ lives, they’re giving each employee $200 to contribute to an international initiative of their choice, through Kiva.

Kiva is a non-profit organisation that offers loans to help impoverished groups and individuals continue and grow their business in more challenging economies. Individuals and companies like Green Apple, who want to make a direct difference to worthwhile businesses across the world, donate cash for these loans.

This donated money is then directly loaned to deserving individuals and groups, via Kiva’s far-reaching network of Field Partners, who vet, administer and distribute each loan.

The donator receives updates throughout the life of the loan, so they can see what a difference their money is making. They are then reimbursed as soon as the borrower is able to repay the loan.

Green Apple will ensure its employees reinvest this money with Kiva once it’s paid back. And their pledge doesn’t stop there. The flooring specialists have vowed to provide each employee with an additional $200 to donate every six months.

As a cause close to its green heart, Green Apple is particularly passionate about supporting individuals and organisations involved with forestry and projects that help preserve the environment.

Green Apple Flooring’s Managing Director, Stephen MacVicar, is proudly encouraging employees to support such a worthwhile cause. Stephen said, “Kiva is a cause I truly believe in because it provides loans to help less fortunate individuals and groups continue their businesses in deprived areas.”

He added: “I’ve been lending Kiva money myself each month and feel great about the benefits it provides for worthwhile initiatives across the world, so I’m delighted to pull together as a company to make even more of a difference.”
