This fall your Greater Detroit Area Honda Dealer Association is teaming up with the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation to help make the Detroit roads a little safer. The Association’s new “Think B4 U Text” initiative will be geared to Detroit teenagers to help educate them on the dangers of texting while driving.
According to a recent study by AT&T, when it comes to texting and driving, 43 percent of teens admit to doing so, despite 97% of those teens acknowledging that it is dangerous. With this subject becoming more and more of an issue, the Detroit Honda Dealers felt it was important to do something to gain awareness specific to the Detroit communities.
“It is a very real issue that is affecting drivers today,” said Jeffrey Tamaroff, President of the Detroit Area Honda Dealer Association and owner of Tamaroff Honda and Jeffrey Honda. “By educating young drivers from the start on the real consequences of a small action, we can hope to prevent tragic events.”
With the launch of the Think B4 U Text Campaign, high school students can visit ThinkB4UText.com to learn more about the dangers of texting while driving, hear other peers’ stories and discussions on the topic, and sign the pledge to never text and drive.
Throughout the year, the Honda Dealers and Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation will also have ways for teenagers and the community to get involved with the campaign and to help spread the message.
