LÄRABAR® (LARABAR.COM) maker of the original fruit and nut food bar, is pleased to announce their sponsorship of Green Halloween®, a program of the non-profit organization, Green America. While Green America seeks to empower consumers to use their economic power to create a more healthy, just and sustainable world, Green Halloween focuses on encouraging the public to think outside of the candy box®.

With the support of LÄRABAR since its start in 2007, Green Halloween continues to offer wholesome and earth-friendly alternatives for the candy-focused holiday. Founded by Seattle mom Corey Colwell-Lipson in 2007, The Green Halloween movement seeks to inspire alternatives to conventional candy with treats that are child and earth-friendly.
Green Halloween is proud to partner with the Association of Zoos & Aquariums to bring healthy, sustainable treats, activities and resources to Halloween events in locations across the U.S. from September 1st thru November 15th. LÄRABAR will provide delicious, gluten-free and wholesome alternatives for families to enjoy at more than 70 events held at zoos and aquariums in cities including San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Washington D.C., and Boston. In addition, LÄRABAR will run a “Give Me Something Good to Eat” Sweepstakes from October 5-15.

Lara Merriken, founder of LÄRABAR said, “At LÄRABAR, we know that the foundation of a sound mind and body is derived from eating simple, pure and delicious food that is as close to its natural state. As a mother, I know firsthand about the importance of educating one’s children about what they’re putting into their bodies. I’m excited that LÄRABAR will be available at Green Halloween events and I’m looking forward to handing out LÄRABAR’s to trick-or-treaters this Halloween!”

Adds Colwell-Lipson, “As a mom of two gluten-free kids, I had long depended on LÄRABAR as a whole-food snack my kids were over-the-moon for. Year after year we literally had trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood asking for LÄRABARs. The experience led to the idea of creating a national revolution to give Halloween a wholesome and green makeover so partnering with LÄRABAR has been a dream come true. Together we are keeping Halloween fun without losing the yum-factor!”

To participate in your own Green Halloween, stop by your local Shaw’s or Wakefern store where you can buy an assortment of LÄRABAR minis to distribute to trick-or-treaters. You’ll become a neighborhood favorite in no time!
