I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the third annual Facial Nerve Study Group. Not only was it well planned and perfectly executed, but it allowed me to connect with other facial nerve experts as well, which is always valuable.

Beverly Hills facial paralysis expert, Dr. Babak Azizzadeh of the Facial Paralysis Institute in Beverly Hills, California, recently attended the third annual Facial Nerve Study Group, held by the American Neurotology Society in Washington D.C.
The event, which was labeled a “super Saturday” by the hosting organization, featured some of the very best physicians in the industry, and Dr. Azizzadeh was one of them. “Being able to be a part of such a great and well-organized event was fantastic. The event was certainly on point, and I think the attendees found it very valuable,” says Dr. Azizzadeh.
The American Neurotology Society reportedly received several excellent case abstracts ahead of the event, but time constraints allowed for only seven presentations, one of which came from Dr. Azizzadeh.
“These abstracts were selected blinded to author, and ranked according to their scientific merit and appeal to the attendees. I was pleased to hear that the organization found my case study interesting and valuable, as it in turn allowed me to share my experience and expertise with the audience,” notes Dr. Azizzadeh.
His presentation, entitled “Progressive Facial Nerve and Trigeminal Nerve Palsies,” focused on facial reanimation.
“I discussed a case study that featured an elderly man with facial pain and progressive facial paralysis of unclear etiology, and it was very well received,” says Dr. Azizzadeh.
The event, by many considered to be a complete success, featured some of the most experienced facial nerve experts in the field, including Jeffrey Hotaling, MD, Hamid R. Djalilian, MD, and Eric J. Thorpe, MD.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the third annual Facial Nerve Study Group. Not only was it well planned and perfectly executed, but it allowed me to connect with other facial nerve experts as well, which is always valuable,” concludes Dr. Azizzadeh.
