Ixxus consultant Dan Tuffery has just been announced as the winner of Alfresco’s 2012 Dashlet Challenge; an annual contest pitting “dashletes” against each other to prove their technical know-how.
Dan’s winning entry was a Search Terms dashlet (http://addons.alfresco.com/addons/search-terms-dashlet) which can be used to show search terms which have been executed in Alfresco, along with a number of filters which give users improved control over which search terms are displayed. Search terms are represented in a tag cloud, and are weighted by how many times a search has been executed.
"The Search Terms dashlet makes great use of the Solr search engine which is new in Alfresco 4,” said Jeff Potts, Chief Community Officer at Alfresco, “It gives valuable insight to anyone running an Alfresco Share-based sites because it allows them to see what people are searching for, including what people searching for and not finding. These kind of insights make it easier for knowledge managers to tweak and tune their Share sites which makes everyone more productive."

The Dashlet Challenge is an annual competition run by Enterprise Content Management experts Alfresco, which this year ran from August-September. With its strong open source community and user base, the Alfresco Add-Ons store contains over 175 extensions and plug-ins for the Alfresco platform, all of which are freely contributed by the community, and freely available for download.
