"The Edge Factor crew stands ready to film as this incredible story unfolds in November 2012. But, for this to happen, we need to raise funds to roll cameras and capture Baja 1000 history as it unfolds," Jeremy Bout, Producer/Director - Edge Factor Show

In November 2012, the 4 riders of the HERO Racing team will race their Motocross bike, 1200 miles across the desert in one of the most dangerous and grueling races in the world: the Baja 1000. On this mission, they will be carrying a prosthetic leg on their back as a symbol of carrying the dreams of other physically challenged athletes with them. At the finish line of this arduous race, the riders will give the prosthetic leg to a deserving recipient. The 4 HERO Racing riders, the ‘Dark Horses’, have overcome tremendous obstacles; this film will inspire other physically challenged athletes to pursue their dreams.

In order to raise the money needed to capture the epic journey of the HERO Racing team (Helping Everyone Reach Out), film production company, Edge Factor is taking it to the streets. With limited time before the Baja 1000 race, the company doesn't have time to navigate Corporate Sponsorship, so it has launched a grassroots online funding project on Indiegogo.com. The monetary goal for filming and producing the documentary is $70K.
The way it works is, if the goal is not reached, all pledges will be cancelled, they will not receive any money towards this cause, and the story will not be told.

Edge Factor first learned about the HERO Racing team while they were producing the film, ‘Metal & Flesh’: an inspiring story about one of the HERO Racing riders, “Monster” Mike Schultz. ‘Metal & Flesh’ is now in the final stages of production and has become a prequel film to ‘Dark Horses’.

Honda, FoxShox, Sandvik Coromant, GoPro, Julian Hard Cider, Pro Rider Mike Montgomery, Straitline Components and the band Switchfoot are a few of the companies and individuals who are helping the Hero Racing team and Edge Factor ride to success in the Baja 1000.

The Riders
"Monster" Mike Schultz: 3 time X Games Gold Medalist
“Super” Mario Panagiotopoulos: Off-road Motocross Rider
Chris Ridgway: 2 time X Games Gold Medalist
Jim Wazny: X Games Silver and Bronze medalist
