Lisa Holt of Cpl Resources PLC has been nominated for the prestigious Women Mean Business of the Year Award 2012. Lisa works as Director of four key specialist recruitment divisions within the Cpl group,Careers Register, Sales & Marketing and HR & Retail & Office Support. The WMB Conference & Awards event takes place on Monday October 1st and is designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of Ireland’s businesswomen. As an Industry veteran with more than 16 years of experience in recruitment, Lisa prides herself on delivering the very best service experience to Cpl clients and candidates.
In response to the news of her nomination Lisa said: “I am genuinely flattered and honoured and quite surprised. What I do daily comes quite naturally to me and whilst it’s very hard work, I love what I do, so to be nominated for an award for doing my job is such a lovely thing to happen”.
Having started her career in Cpl as a recruiter and progressed through the company, Lisa also imparts her considerable industry knowledge and wisdom to her colleagues as a manager and leader of teams, and as part of the Cpl Coaching Academy. “Each time I see a recruiter struggling I have to be very direct with them and tell them quite simply they need to try harder. Everything they are doing is grand but they need to do more. ‘Get on the phone’ is what I’ll say to them. Nothing is more powerful than connecting with people; this is a driving factor in the success of a great recruiter. That personal touch is essential and keeping promises. Go the extra mile each time and if you say you will do it, then do it. Don’t let anyone down”.
Lisa also believes that she has benefited enormously from CEO, Anne Heraty. “I am very lucky too to have a boss and a mentor whose faith in me has never waned. It’s vital for people to be surrounded by people who believe in them. It’s key to their success”.
She remains very proud of her achievements within Cpl and cites the support of her husband and parents as a source of strength and encouragement.
Lisa is acutely aware about the importance of compassion and understanding in the workplace. Her strong family values inform all of her interactions with candidates and colleagues. “I’ve always been a good reader of people”, admits Lisa, “Over a decade and-a-half in recruitment teaches you the skills of empathy and intuition. I’ve always put the needs of the candidate first and I steadfastly believe that making a positive human connection is central to placing someone in the right job.
