Dallas Medical Center, formerly known as RHD Memorial Medical Center, was a failing facility on the brink of closing its doors when Physician Synergy Group of Dallas assumed management of this 155 bed hospital in Farmer’s Branch, December 2009.
PSG is led by a team of practicing physicians and experts in finance and healthcare operations allowing them to acquire, develop and manage acute care hospitals with an unmatched and unique point-of-view. With leadership from President/CEO, Dr. Corazon Ramirez, VP of Operations Kathie Lower, VP of Finance Michael Conroy and Business Development for PSG and CEO of DMC, Raji Kumar, the group has seen irrefutable success in multiple markets within Texas and Arizona. Pine Creek Medical Center is the flagship facility for the group, serving the Dallas area with top physicians and a stellar reputation and satisfaction with both patients and staff members.
PSG was successful in the DMC turnaround effort. The hospital which had been at a $2 MM/mo. loss is now profitably operating. PSG’s strategic approach included understanding the needs of the community it serves, while reducing operating costs, focusing on specific service lines and recruiting new physicians. PSG invested in new medical equipment and upgrades including an EMR system, which allows digital health records to be shared across different health care settings. This new system meets the CMS meaningful use criteria helping to provide an improvement in quality of care. DMC can now be offered as a full service community hospital, with state of the art inpatient and outpatient services.
Having accomplished its mission of preserving this valuable asset for the Dallas community, PSG is pleased to announce the transition of management to Prime Healthcare Services. Prime Healthcare is a system that owns and operates 18 acute care hospitals in California, Texas, Nevada and Pennsylvania. The organization brings resources and expertise to continue the growth and prosperity of Dallas Medical Center and the DFW residents it serves.
