Myrtle Beach Campground's Halloween Celebrations Are Reminiscent Of Days Gone By With Safe And Family-Friendly Festivities

Halloween festivities at Ocean Lakes Family Campground have become so popular that the campground is now offering guests "two times the fun." Family-friendly activities will take place Oct. 19 - 21 and Oct. 26 - 28. Registered guests may choose to stay one weekend, or repeat the fun, by extending their stay over the two weekends. Be aware that campsites on the weekend of Oct. 26th are nearly booked, but there are plenty of sites still available for the weekend of Oct. 19th.

Both weekends will feature an identical schedule, full of traditional activities and entertainment such as pumpkin carvings, costume contests (human and pet), a magic show, and trick or treating in a safe and inviting atmosphere. The additional weekend allows for guests to enjoy an Ocean Lakes Halloween without sacrificing activities at home during the week of Halloween.

"The world has changed so much since we were kids. It's nice to know that there are still places where you can enjoy some fun in a safe family environment and recreate some of your favorite childhood memories," explains Barb Krumm, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Ocean Lakes Family Campground. "That's what makes an Ocean Lakes Halloween so special. Our guests always have a great time decorating their campsites and taking part in the wide variety of family-friendly activities happening during Halloween. It has become so popular that many of our guests have made spending Halloween at Ocean Lakes a family tradition."

Each weekend of fright-filled fun begins on Friday night with a Spooktacular Magic Show. The evening of free entertainment begins at 8 p.m. in the Recreation Center. On Saturday, at 11 a.m., the Great Pumpkin Search will begin. Guests are encouraged to bring the family along on a scavenger hunt as they scour the campground for hidden pumpkins. Then, at 12 p.m., guests are invited to participate in a pumpkin carving/decorating contest.

Four-legged friends who are dressed to impress can compete at 1 p.m. in the Pet Costume Contest. At 2:30 p.m., there will be Adult and Children Costume Contests with prizes awarded in a variety of categories. The festivities continue on at 4:30 p.m. with Trick or Treating. The entire family can enjoy going camper to camper by golf car collecting goodies. It's still daylight, making it easier to Trick or Treat with little ones.

As evening approaches, guests of the campground can participate in the Creepy Site Crawl by decorating their site in Halloween motif. At 7 p.m., judges will take a tour of the spooky sites throughout the campground and one campsite will be selected the best and will be awarded a prize. The weekend of fun concludes with a Monster Mash Costume Ball at 8 p.m. Saturday evening.
