WPL Publishing soon will host a webinar to help various professionals within the construction community understand and choose among the multitude of green building standards available to them for their building design, construction, and operations projects.

There are many green building standards on the international market today, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e.V. (DGNB). With the choices on the market and various pressures from consumers, end-users, corporate leadership, and government, it can be unclear which rating system or collection of rating systems is best for a particular building design, construction, or operations project. The webinar will walk attendees through the basics of each program with a focus on the costs and benefits, ease of project management, fundamental requirements, and level of effort needed to be successful. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT), visit http://tinyurl.com/9rs5qdp.

The webinar, entitled “Green Standards -- LEED, BREEAM, DGNB and Others,” will address international standards currently on the market and cover the adoption and modification of green building rating systems by both the public and private sectors.

The webinar is designed to help attendees do the following:

  • Understand the basics of LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, and certain other international green building standards in the public and private sectors.
  • Review the efficacy of these standards and leave with a fundamental grasp of their costs, benefits, and market positions.
  • Evaluate the project-management processes of such standards.
  • Comprehend the fundamental requirements of such standards.
  • Assess the level of effort required in such standards.

Addressing attendees will be Triple Green Building Group LLC Principal Kelly Gearhart. The international green building consulting firm provides expertise to design, construction, and building-operations professionals, governments, corporate entities, and non-profit organizations seeking approaches to building and development through sustainable project planning and design, LEED consulting and administration, education, and training. Triple Green is a national member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a sustainability education developer, and one of few international USGBC-authorized delivery partners for LEED core curriculum.

After Ms. Gearhart’s presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/9rs5qdp.
