Daniella Cippitelli Abruzzo, President and co-owner of the fitness franchise iLoveKickboxing.com, has started the non-profit organization, Magic Happens Foundation, to bring fitness classes, professionals and information to cancer patients undergoing treatment.
Abruzzo survived a malignant tumor in her rib in 2010. Doctors performed surgery to remove the rib, and she was subjected to radiation therapy. During this time, Abruzzo kept fitness in her life as much as doctors and her weakened physical state would allow.
“I owe a lot to fitness,” Abruzzo said. “It kept my attitude strong, and contributed to my speedy recovery. As soon as I got the ‘okay’ from my doctors, I became much more active and this helped me feel better, fast. Hitting the heavy bag in kickboxing class empowered me. It made me feel like I could really beat this thing.”
Magic Happens Foundation was born from her personal experience with cancer treatment and the benefits she saw in keeping fitness in her life. Abruzzo stated that she wanted to bring this knowledge and experience to other cancer patients undergoing treatment.
The foundation will provide memberships to group fitness classes such as iLoveKickboxing.com, yoga and other fitness activities, as well as inform patients and their families about proper nutrition.
You can visit the Magic Happens Foundation website for more information and to get involved at http://www.magichappensfoundation.org.
