Continuing to deliver on its commitment to the Public Safety Cloud, InterAct, a leading provider of incident-response and management solutions today announced the release of SafeTown™; a powerful suite of cloud and smart phone apps that help public safety agencies better connect with the citizens they serve.

Improving the connection between the public safety community and the public provides significant benefits to both constituencies. “We place a high value on a strong partnership with our citizens. If we can better inform them, we can make them safer, and engaged citizens become a force multiplier for us.” said Taylor Jones, Deputy Chief, Office of the Sheriff, Emergency Services Division, Anderson County, SC. “SafeTown will give us the tools we need to effectively share information with our citizens and make our community a better, safer place to live.”

SafeTown delivers services to the community via a community web portal and a family of smart phone apps. With SafeTown, citizens can create household profiles for use by first responders. Agencies can post alerts to the community and citizens can report non-emergency problems or suspicious activity. Real time events and crime history can be viewed on a map, and authorities can publish information to the community on inmates in local correctional facilities.

SafeTown apps have the added benefit of being fully integrated with InterAct’s suite of public safety applications meaning that information is always accurate and up to date. “Integration with our core online applications is key.” said Mike McGarry, InterAct Senior Vice President and General Manager, InterAct Products. “The data that agencies want to share with citizens are in the core systems, and information shared by the community needs to be accessible by these systems to realize the full value of public to public safety data sharing enabled by SafeTown”.

SafeTown is based on a flexible, open platform that will accelerate the development of public to public safety applications. By providing 3rd party application developers open APIs, InterAct will continue to build new capabilities to enhance SafeTown including additional applications, services, and data sources. PulsePoint will be the first such application, allowing volunteers trained in CPR to be immediately notified in the event of a cardiac emergency in their vicinity.
