In this area, where I grew up in South Dakota, hunting is a family tradition passed down through the generations.

International award-winning wildlife artist, Joshua Spies, recently released his newest painting, "Grandfather's Legacy."

The painting features a grandfather and his granddaughter hunting for deer together from a tree stand. Two does and a buck graze in the field before them in the early morning hours.

"In this area, where I grew up in South Dakota, hunting is a family tradition passed down through the generations," Spies said. "That's what this painting depicts."

This is the first in a series of paintings that will feature the family tradition of hunting.

About Joshua Spies:
Joshua Spies is an international award-winning artist from Watertown, South Dakota. He earned his fine arts degree at South Dakota State University and has traveled the world observing and photographing wildlife.
