Entertainers from The Gig Bureau join Brandon Goodwin of Goodwin Films to document their live stagecraft on film.

The filming brought together some of the best live performers in the nation.

The Gig Bureau entertainment booking agency assembled performers of various talents September 17-21 with Goodwin Films to bring their accustomed live performances to life on film.

Goodwin, founder of Goodwin Films and Director of Photography and Editor for Linotype: The Film; In Search of the Eighth Wonder of the World, documented celebrity impersonators, solo and group musicians, circus clowns, heavy metal guitarists, and belly dancers as they worked to convey crowd-size applause to a single video camera.

The filming brought together some of the best live performers in the nation. ‘Cher’ impersonator and Emmy nominee Kelly Smith, joined in the excitement by documenting a portion of her regularly live performance on camera. Smith hoped to capture Cher’s “essence” on camera as well as she does for her live shows.

Also collaborating on the project was The Cat’s Pajama’s, a 5 part men’s a cappella group who has been featured on America’s Got Talent, The Next Great American Band and NBC’s hit show, The Sing Off. Their vocal band offered original tunes, medleys of well-known Oldies and Jason Mraz hits. Brian Skinner, beat bass for the group said, “We love being able to be goofy as often as possible and the video camera let us do that. It's sometime[s] the quick quirky bits that are the most fun to improvise and do.” Skinner hopes that the process of filming will be able to capture the “energetic spirit” of the group while offering the “full sound of 5 part harmony”.

The Gig Bureau chose Goodwin to help document the talent because of his expertise and creativity as a documentarian and videographer, his skills best seen in work he produced for Mutemath, Red Velvet, and The Gungor Band. Goodwin has also worked with Doug Pitt, founder of Care to Learn, an organization based in Springfield, Missouri.

The week of shooting is expected to provide The Gig Bureau with a catalog of some of the very best talent on their roster.
