Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) September 28, 2012
Launched on September 19th, Apple Maps was released within the new iOS 6 operating system, replacing Google Maps. Since its release, Apple Maps has come under heavy criticism for lacking critical local data.
Many businesses and brands have found that Apple’s Maps does not include their local data, and as such, consumers using Apple Maps will be unable to find these brand’s locations. This creates a substantial problem for brands seeking to drive mobile maps users to brick-and-mortar locations.
To address this challenge and help brands connect with Apple Maps users, Where 2 Get It has launched a service that will push local business data to Apple’s Maps. This service works by submitting information to several of Apple’s local data partners.
Apple Maps draws on a wide range of data publishers to power its local mapping content. These publishers include Acxiom, TomTom,TeleAtlas, and Yelp, all which are included in Where 2 Get It’s Apple Maps Optimization service. To ensure a brand’s visibility on Apple Maps, Where 2 Get It will optimize local information for all of a brand’s locations, and submit this information to Apple’s data partners. By broadcasting the same content across multiple publishers, Where 2 Get It increases the consistency and availability of local data to Apple Maps, effectively establishing brand continuity. With Where 2 Get It’s service, which focuses on pushing data to Apple’s Maps, businesses will quickly activate their broadcast signal and become visible on their Maps. With the assistance of Where 2 Get It, national and international brands will be able to get found at a national and local level on Apple’s new Maps.
Explaining this new service, Where 2 Get It’s Director of Marketing Alex Swerdlow commented, “The local search community’s negative reaction to Apple Maps clearly demonstrates the need for 3rd party solutions to Apple’s Mapping problems. Our clients don’t have time to wait for Apple to upgrade their mapping technologies - with millions of active iOS 6 devices already online, national brands need to act quickly to ensure they are being found. Our new Apple Maps Optimization package is the best solution on the market for national brands to establish an accurate presence on Apple Maps.”
Where 2 Get It’s Apple Maps Optimization service is available now, and currently includes direct data submission to Yelp, Acxiom, TomTom, and NAVTEQ, with additional publisher relationships in development.
