End America’s Republican Jinx wants every Republican U.S. Senator and the Republican House leadership from 2009 – 2012, the Republican National Committee and the 31 Republican State Committees, for states represented by Republican Senators, to reimburse the U.S. Treasury for every dollar in salary and benefits they allegedly took from the American people from 2009-2012.
“The top 10 priorities of the American people since 2009 have been for their elected officials to do everything in their power to reduce the nation’s unemployment rate,” said Warren Gould, founder of End America’s Republican Jinx. “Rather than govern, the job they are paid $174,000 a year to do, the press has documented that every Senate Republican and the House Republican leadership conspired to sabotage practically every effort put forward to bring down the unemployment rate.”
According to the United States Senate’s official website, http://www.senate.gov, from 2009 – 2012, Senate Republicans engaged in 246 filibusters to block virtually every initiative brought by the Obama Administration including those expected to create millions of jobs for Americans. Still, despite the Republicans best efforts at obstruction, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics http://www.bls.gov President Obama created 5,100,000 private sector jobs from 2009-2012. “That’s 50% more private sector jobs in less than 4 years than Republican economic policies created in the 8 years from 1989-1992 and 2001-2004 combined.”
The last time the Democrats held the White House, Democratic economic policies helped create 22,700,000 jobs from 1993 – 2000, 41% more jobs than Republican economic policies created during the 8 Reagan years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. “If the Senate Republicans filibustered every effort by then Democratic President Bill Clinton to enact his economic policy, as they have President Obama’s, a large percentage of the nearly 23,000,000 people who found jobs would have gone unemployed,” said Gould. “Whose fault would that have been: the Clinton economic policies, or the Republicans that kept them from becoming law?”
Gould asks, “Who then is responsible for the fact that millions of more jobs were not created from 2009 to 2012, the Obama economic policies or the Republican Senators that blocked the Obama policies from becoming law using over 64 years worth of filibusters in less than 4 years?”
“Not only have the Republicans done everything in their power to sabotage the economy,” said Gould. “They have nominated for ‘job creator-in-chief’ the man who from 2003-2006 was nearly the worst job creator in the entire country. “ “When he ran for Governor, Romney made the same claims about his 25-year business background that he is making now. Once elected on his business claims, Romney proved to be less competent at job creation than 92% of all the governors in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Just 3 out of the nation’s 50 governors had worse job creation records than Romney.”
Massachusetts population records show that over 200,000 families left the state during that time, http://www.sec.state.ma.us/pre/preidx.htm. “Romney earned the name “Myth Romney” as Massachusetts citizens concluded they couldn’t believe a word he said whether about jobs or anything else. Today polls show the people that know him best, the citizens of Massachusetts, favor President Obama over Mitt Romney by over 23 percentage points.” http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2012/Pres/Graphs/massachusetts.html
