“This was a big surprise for us. I had always wished for one of our videos to go viral. And here I thought our live performance video taken at the National Cherry Blossom festival, which gathered 20,000 views, was a lot,” says Cameron.

National recording artist Kim Cameron and her band Side FX just crossed over the million number mark on YouTube. Using their latest single, 3 Seconds, which hit radio’s Mediabase charts this past October, the band recorded a music video in November in Hartford, Connecticut.

Combining local hip hop dancing sensation Poetry in Motion with high end graphics, brought enough visual stimulation to garner them over 1.1 million views in less than two months.

“This was a big surprise for us. I had always wished for one of our videos to go viral. And here I thought our live performance video taken at the National Cherry Blossom festival, which gathered 20,000 views, was a lot,” says Cameron.

This indie pop band broke all the boundaries in 2011 with five of the songs, on their latest EP the Blond Side, landing on the charts, three of which hit the coveted top-40 spots, which are typically the domain of big-label recording artists.

Side FX’s successes last year included a major distribution deal with Morada Music, which distributes to FYE, Best Buy, and Sam Goody, among others, and an audience of more than 68,000 at the Washington Redskins Christmas eve game while Cameron sang the National Anthem.

Besides hitting the million number marker, this year the band recorded one of the largest children’s National Anthems in Washington, North Carolina. “So far, 2012 is turning out to be a great year for us, and it has only just begun!” says Cameron.
