“While it took us less than a year to grow to the point where we are operating over 100 trucks through six facilities strategically placed in key locations throughout the southeast, we have plans for further expansion." ~ Michael Smith, President

ASF Intermodal today announced that the company has exceeded 100 trucks on the road, a major milestone in the intermodal drayage industry. Not only has ASF met this significant industry milestone, the company did so less than one year after commencing operations. ASF Intermodal opened with just two locations in February of 2011 and began moving freight the following month. Now, just eleven months after opening, the company has over 100 trucks on the road operating through six locations and is poised for aggressive growth in 2012 and beyond.
It’s no secret that intermodal is the fastest growing segment in the transportation industry, and ASF Intermodal is poised for continued growth within the industry. Company president Michael Smith stated, “While it took us less than a year to grow to the point where we are operating over 100 trucks through six facilities strategically placed in key locations throughout the southeast, we have plans for further expansion. We expect to add even more trucks in the near future and plans are also in place to open more locations to better meet the needs of our customers. ”
In addition to the overall growth in intermodal transportation, company leaders attribute the rapid growth of ASF Intermodal to the company’s commitment to safety, service and excellence. Smith explains, “We completed a Department of Transportation (DOT) audit at the end of 2011 and received a satisfactory rating with no violations, an accomplishment we are quite proud of. Emphasizing operational safety is just one of the ways that ASF Intermodal is committed to a culture of excellence focused on the needs of drivers, customers and other team members – and it’s one of the things that will allow us to continue to grow in our niche.”
Focusing on excellence in meeting customer needs is another key to ASF Intermodal’s success. Smith sums up the company’s approach by explaining, “We are a service provider. It is the essence of our business. Timely pickup and delivery matter to our customers, so they matter to us. We take ownership of ensuring that customer needs are met.”
Headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, the company’s additional locations are Atlanta, Charleston, Houston, Memphis and Savannah, with expansion into other markets expected during 2012.
