Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) June 20, 2012

The Greater Yellowstone Coalition (GYC) today introduced Cycle Greater Yellowstone, an epic week-long bike tour through Montana and Wyoming featuring some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. Registration is now open for the first iteration of this annual ride, which will take place August 18-24, 2013.

Cycle Greater Yellowstone was created with two distinct goals. The first is to provide a world-class, fully supported adventure that allows up to 1,500 cyclists to immerse themselves in the wonders of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The second is building lasting and meaningful relationships between the cyclists, communities and GYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the integrity of the last great largely intact ecosystem on the planet.

“Words and even pictures can’t adequately convey the beauty or significance of this truly remarkable place – it’s simply something that has to be experienced,” GYC communications director Jeff Welsch said. “Everyone who participates in Cycle Greater Yellowstone will be playing a meaningful role in shaping this region’s future. In return, they’ll get one of the best vacations they’ll ever have, creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

Cycle Greater Yellowstone route will rotate through the ecosystem each year to showcase the area’s diversity of wildlife, topography and communities. The 2013 ride starts in West Yellowstone and will include stops in Ennis, Livingston, Gardiner, Cooke City, Cody and Red Lodge. The final day highlights an option to ascend (and descend) the legendary Beartooth Pass, ranked among the top five climbs in America by Outside magazine.

Registration for Cycle Greater Yellowstone includes three meals daily, fully stocked rest stops, prime camping spots, hot showers, baggage service, on-course safety support and live entertainment. Total mileage for the week is 373 – 473, depending on options. Total elevation gain ranges from 12,624 – 22,519 feet. The cost is $995, and registration is limited to 1,500 participants.
