I love designing fall wedding invitations. It’s a chance to use vibrant colors like aubergine, hibiscus and terra cotta in concert with rich taupes, browns and ecru. says Karen Herzig, Design Manager at William Arthur, Inc.

While summer is the season associated with weddings, fall has become a hugely popular time of year for getting married. According to The Wedding Report, nearly 25% of all weddings are held in September and October.
What makes fall so attractive to the dearly beloved? Karen Herzig, Design Manager at William Arthur, Inc., makers of fine wedding invitations, offers five reasons why fall is a great time to say, “I do”.
Fall weather. “With its temperate days and mild evenings, fall is a beautiful season for holding a wedding,” notes Ms. Herzig. “You don’t need to worry about summer heat, humidity and bugs if you’re holding an outdoor wedding.”
Fall color and abundance. “Fall is about color, abundance and harvest. Gold, saffron, oranges, reds are luscious colors of this season. We’re seeing a huge, and still growing, emergence of berry tones and plums for fall weddings as well,” Herzig points out. “There’s a depth to fall color, and fall foliage makes a stunning backdrop for wedding settings and photography.”
“I love designing fall wedding invitations,” she continues, “It’s a chance to use vibrant colors like aubergine, hibiscus and terra cotta in concert with rich taupes, browns and ecru. Fall brides can be fairly adventurous with color, from the invitation and bridesmaids’ dresses to the theme and décor of the event. It’s endlessly inspiring to see what couples do for fall weddings.”
Fall prices. “With the cost of the average American wedding at $26,000, holding your wedding after Labor Day can save you thousands of dollars in venue, catering and lodging costs.”
Fall pace. “Fall is much mellower than summer’s peak travel and tourist season. Summer traffic and crowds are replaced by fall’s gentler tempo.”
Fall romance. “Fall weddings extend the festivities of summer, but with a lushness specific to the season. We become more reflective in the fall,” Herzig points out. “Golden light, turning leaves—it’s a poignant and romantic time of year to get married.”
