Customers looking to deploy Hadoop based solutions on Windows Server or Windows Azure will also be able to take advantage of HStreaming to enable real-time analytics on Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services.
O’Reilly Strata Conference Making Data Work, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2012
HStreaming and Microsoft have been working in a strategic relationship to deliver real-time analytics capabilities to Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services for Windows Azure and Windows Server. HStreaming addresses the challenge of analyzing large data sets in real time as they get generated. The software works out of the box with other Hadoop and Microsoft products and allows customers to process, analyze, visualize, and react in real time to millions of data events per second.
Real-time Analytics for Big Data
Most Big Data is generated by machine-to-machine communication in the form of continuous data streams such as machine logs, sensor data, and business events. To monetize Big Data, companies need to derive insights and act upon these insights in timely fashion. Most traditional real-time analytics systems (CEP) lack the required scalability for Big Data and poorly handle unstructured data. And this is what HStreaming’s real-time analytics platform solves. It is built into Hadoop and can analyze millions of structured and unstructured data events per second.
Compatibility with Hadoop and Microsoft products
Many organizations want to expand their Big-Data processing capabilities to real time while leveraging their existing data and software infrastructure. HStreaming technology was designed to work seamlessly with Hadoop products such as various Hadoop distributions, storage systems, languages, and libraries. HStreaming now further connects into the enterprise software stack using standard technologies like ODBC and SOA. The tight integration enables an array of Microsoft products such as SQL Server 2012 to work out of the box and facilitates further analysis, visualization, and automated action.
Strategic Relationship with Microsoft
“Customers looking to deploy Hadoop based solutions on Windows Server or Windows Azure will also be able to take advantage of HStreaming to enable real-time analytics on Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services. We are excited to work with HStreaming to provide our customers with technologies that will complement our Hadoop-based offerings.” says Herain Oberoi, Director, SQL Server, at Microsoft.
“Porting HStreaming’s real-time analytics to Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services was very easy. It was a matter of an hour of effort to run HStreaming on Hadoop on Windows.” says Jana Uhlig, CEO of HStreaming. “We are very excited to bring to HStreaming’s customers the best of two key ecosystems: the scalability and flexibility of Hadoop and the enterprise-class applications from Microsoft. This tight relationship makes real-time analytics easily accessible and integrated with the existing business processes and IT infrastructure.”
As of today, HStreaming on Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services is available for participants of Microsoft’s Technology Adoption Program (TAP) and Microsoft’s Community Technology Preview Program (CTP).
HStreaming is also available for all other major Hadoop distributions including Apache Hadoop, Cloudera, MapR, Amazon EMR, Hortonworks, Greenplum/EMC, and IBM. HStreaming offers a free community edition, a reliable and secure enterprise edition, and a hosted cloud edition.
