Fresh startup Case-Monkey (http://www.case-monkey.com), based in San Diego, CA recently launched their new website allowing users to create, save, share, and buy their own custom iPhone cases online. The Case-Monkey "design-your-own iPhone case" process is not the first of its kind to create custom iPhone cases, but might be the easiest and most powerful "design-your-own" applications available on the web today.
The Case-Monkey 4-step process makes it extremely easy to design a custom phone case using images (upload pictures), colors, and text. Users can also choose from a gallery of hosted graphics, or spice up their designs with some nifty photoshop-like effects.
The design application is a Flash application, so users will need to use a Flash-enabled device like a computer / laptop or Android tablet. There is also a gallery of recent user designs created by hundreds of members every day. Every design in the gallery can be selected to start with to customize or can be purchased as-is.
The site is powered by a platform called MyStyle by One Giant Media, a web agency that specializes in interactive "create-your-own-online" web applications, user experience, and web design and development. The same software and easy user experience can be found on other sites such as PlakThat.com and Custom-Car-Wraps.com. The company reports that they will be launching more fun and exciting features for the application next year that should allow people to get even more creative with their designs.
Founder Sean Powell said that performance of the new site was great so far, commenting: "We're excited to see our stats show very high engagement and conversion ratios. It shows that people are really enjoying the user experience, so they're compelled to buy their creations, and it's really fun to see all of their new designs every day."
He expects the new business to grow more than triple next year.
Overall the site has done very well in its beta period, often with over 6% of users purchasing cases that they've made. This is an extremely high overall conversion ratio for an e-commerce website, where the standard is closer to 2%. For competitively low prices, plus frequent coupon codes and discounts, the cases are printed every day in high quality and shipped out from San Francisco to happy customers all over the world, including USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Belgium, China, and Australia, to name a few.
