SEMPO’s done some great things for our industry, and I know we’ll be able to grow the organization.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 27, 2012
Ian Lurie, CEO of Seattle-based internet marketing company Portent, Inc., has been elected to the board of directors for Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO).
Lurie joins the 13-person SEMPO board made up of some of today’s leading figures in the search marketing community. In his email announcing the new board, outgoing chairman Jeff Pruitt heralded the new board’s “combination of talent, vision and energy.”
Founded in 2002, SEMPO is a global non-profit that works to foster healthy growth in the search marketing industry. According to its website, SEMPO accomplishes this by “building stronger relationships, fostering awareness, providing education, promoting the industry, generating research, and creating a better understanding of search and its role in marketing.”
“I’m excited to be on the board with such a great group of search marketers,” Lurie said. “SEMPO’s done some great things for our industry, and I know we’ll be able to grow the organization.”
Lurie also said he’s excited to build a SEMPO presence in the city of Seattle, where his company is located. “Seattle has a thriving search marketing industry, so establishing a SEMPO chapter in this city will be great for this community.”
The new SEMPO board will take office on March 22nd, and serve through 2014.
