Underprivileged women in Darwin now have access to Westminster Lawyers’ brand of expert legal representation. Philippa Darlow, a senior associate of premiere family law practice Westminster Lawyers has just recently joined Top End Women’s Legal Services (TEWLS). The family law specialist has been lending her expertise and legal experience to the free legal clinic for women since October of this year and will be doing so until April of next year.
As senior associate for the accredited firm of family lawyers Melbourne residents have relied on for many years, Darlow’s work with TEWLS would be able to address the urgent need for many women in Darwin and neighboring areas to have full access to legal representation.
Darlow remarks, “Many women in the Northern Territory face barriers to accessing legal services for reasons including physical remoteness from legal services, financial hardship, language barriers, and unfamiliarity with the legal system. The service is important because it endeavours to provide women facing such disadvantages with access to justice.”

In addition to such endeavours and establishing a family legal clinic at TEWLS, Darlow adds that she would be taking on outreach services as she ventures to the different communities in the territory.
