RCL Cruises Ltd has begun the year in fine style by picking up the two main cruise prizes at the annual Travel Weekly Globe Awards.

The prestigious awards – voted for by travel agents across the UK – saw Royal Caribbean International being named the Best Mainstream Cruise Company, while Celebrity Cruises was named Best Premium Cruise Company. The triumph is a repeat of last year’s double-winning performance at the same awards.

RCL Cruises Ltd associate vice president and general manager, UK and Ireland, Jo Rzymowska said the success recognised the tireless work put in by the company’s sales team.

“We have made very plain over the last year that the travel trade remains at the heart of our plans and we want those valuable partnerships to prosper. Our trade partners are vital to our continued growth and we are committed to supporting them with training, ship visits and innovative marketing. I am honoured that agents recognise our efforts and the quality of our offering.”

The Globe Awards is run by Travel Weekly, the UK’s largest travel industry publication. The 2012 awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London last night (January 25).
