Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) June 14, 2012
Women have reported they may have suffered severe injuries such as strokes, pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after using the internal vaginal contraceptive device, NuvaRing. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a study late 2011 that did find that NuvaRing users were at a 56% higher risk for blood clots, including pulmonary embolisms and deep vein thrombosis than users of older birth control pills. As there is currently not a national NuvaRing class action suit for women claiming injuries linked to NuvaRing, the law offices of Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys are now accepting individual claims from women and family members across the United States. Women who believe they have possibly been injured after using this birth control device are encouraged to call 1(800) GET-GLEN for a free case evaluation.
The October 2011 FDA study also noted that since the NuvaRing vaginal birth control device is made from a combination of ethinyl estradiol and estonogestrel hormones there is potentially a higher amount of estrogen released into the system. The higher levels of estrogen could increase the risk of thromboembolism resulting in blood clots being dislodged and blocking blood vessels.
Claims that are currently being brought up against the drug manufacturer are accusing Merck & Co. and its Organon Pharmaceuticals subsidiary of not adequately warning women or doctors of the potential risk of these blood clots and for not conducted proper risk assessment research. These potential risks have been reported to be higher in women over the age of 35 and who are smokers.
“It’s not just individual women that are contacting law offices for consultations regarding NuvaRing class action claims. There have also been instances of family members requesting legal counsel who believe they may have lost a loved one due to possible health complications linked to NuvaRing use,” stated Glen Lerner Injury Attorney. “The national law offices of Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys offer free case evaluations through an online form at 1800GetGlen.com.
