Oaks Christian Online School sophomore Ciara Bravo plays the part of Melissa Bing, a technology whiz, in Swindle, an upcoming made for TV movie on the Nickelodeon channel. Swindle is shot on site in Vancouver and is based on the book of the same name by the best-selling, children’s and young-adult author Gordan Korman. Ciara will also begin filming on the 4th season of the Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush in January. She plays the part of Katie Knight, the smart and sassy little sister of main character Kendall Knight, in the series about a popular boy band from Minnesota and their exploits. Ciara began auditioning at age 9 and landed her first role at age 12. She has been a student performer in music videos, commercials and TV and welcomes the chance to act in feature-length films as well as travel to different filming locations. She says, “I love to jump on a plane; just tell me where to go next!”

Ciara lives about half of the year in Los Angeles while on set, but spends the other half of the year in northern Kentucky where her family has owned a successful business for more than 50 years. Growing up in Kentucky, Ciara rode horses long before she got into acting and because of her petite stature dreamed of one day being a jockey. She has ridden at the Misty Ridge Equestrian Center in Kentucky and the Burbank Equestrian Center and hopes to enter an endurance competition soon. Ciara is a passionate student who loves music, lyric writing, photography, art, horses, acting and school. She has plans one day to go on to a communications, media-management or visual and performing arts college such as Chapman University, NYU or Columbia University. Because of her travel and college aspirations, Ciara joined Oaks Christian Online School (OCO) in the fall of 2012. Speaking about the transition to OCO, Ciara says, “The online teachers at OCO have been fantastic. They really care about you and will follow up until you give 100%.”
