We needed a higher level of sophistication to meet the needs of our current and future donors, explains Kathi Horton, CFGF President.

Stellar Technology Solutions LLC, a leading provider of web-based philanthropic management software, (http://www.stellartechsol.com), today announced that the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) has successfully launched the iPhi Product Suite. For the first time in 17 years, the Community Foundation has experienced a major technology upgrade. The iPhi solution consolidated what used to be disparate data and processes into a singular, streamlined, web-based operational infrastructure. During the conversion process, the community foundation learned to let go of the old in order to embrace the new as CFGF converted from a legacy information system to a completely new platform.

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint is a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people of Genesee County, Michigan. The Community Foundation helps individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations achieve their charitable and financial goals by providing tools and resources that make giving easy, flexible and effective. CFGF is dedicated to connecting people who care to the causes that matter to them and the community. In 2011, the Foundation awarded more than $4.3 million in grants, administered over 400 charitable funds and was steward of over $140 million in assets. A majority of CFGF’s grantmaking comes from charitable funds that are designated by the donor for a specific organization or purpose.

“The Community Foundation’s business is a balancing act between the here-and-now and the yet-to-come. Our purpose is to grow permanent resources that will be here forever, and to ensure those resources do good in meaningful and relevant ways, generation after generation,” explains Kathi Horton, CFGF President. “We needed a higher level of sophistication to meet the needs of our current and future donors. Our vendor selection process led us to the iPhi Product Suite®, a philanthropic management software system developed by Stellar Technology Solutions LLC of Stroudsburg, PA.”

The hallmark of this new technology is a web-based platform that captures information in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For donors, it means they can check the fund account balance, available to spend for grantmaking, contribute to the fund or advise a grant online. Grantees complete an organizational profile and explain why they need funding for a particular project. That information is then shared with donors, offering opportunities to support real-time community needs.

“Over the last year, we launched our new web site using iPhi WebManager® and went live on iPhi CoreEnterprise®, Stellar’s core processor as our new system of record,” adds Ms. Horton. “Recently, we have made the iPhi DonorView® (secure donor portal) available online to our donors which has been extremely well received. Very soon we will launch our iPhi GranteeView® enabling grantee organizations to apply for grants online, track grants, update their profiles and communicate with us. A similar online application process for scholarship applications is also coming soon. While Stellar’s technology encouraged us to see beyond what is, our staff and constituents continue to make that vision a reality.”

“We could not be more pleased with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s successful implementation of Stellar’s iPhi Product Suite®,” commented Bryan Mileger, Stellar’s President & CEO. “Our technology provides the platform, but it is the community foundation’s vision, hard work and dedication which make it come to life for the community.”
