"Traveling with the aid of FlightStats flight alerts is the next best thing to having a friend in the cockpit keeping you informed, " said FlightStats CEO, Jeff Kennedy.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) December 10, 2012
FlightStats, Inc. the industry-leading publisher of global flight tracking and airport information services, is pleased to announce a new Flight Alerts API in beta. The FlightStats® Flex Alert API enables organizations that serve travelers to provide proactive, event-based alerts to their customers to keep them informed of status or changes to their flights.
Using the new Alerts API, developers can create “Flight Alert Rules” specifying the flight segment (e.g. “American Airlines 100 from JFK to LHR on December 12th), the events to monitor (e.g. gate changes, delays, departures, arrivals, cancelations, etc.), and deliver those results, including a description of the event that occurred along with the current flight status, to the specified URL. The alert messages can then be parsed, branded and packaged with other information and pushed directly to consumers, keeping them informed throughout their journey.
"Traveling with the aid of FlightStats flight alerts is the next best thing to having a friend in the cockpit keeping you informed, " said FlightStats CEO, Jeff Kennedy. "Companies who serve travelers can incorporate this functionality in their applications to provide customers with the up-to-date information that takes some of the stress and uncertainty out of air travel.”
FlightStats® Flex Flight Alerts API are easy to use allowing developers to get meaningful test results in 30 minutes. The new alerts API shares the flexible features of the other FlightStats® Flex APIs including:
- Easy-to-use REST services for creating and managing monitoring rules
- Alert messages in JSON or XML
- Interactive API documentation for browsing and testing the APIs
- Detailed flight status information with improvements that include: Local & UTC times; Improved representation of status updates that are well-structured and programmatically accessible.
