Ellumen, a leading provider of professional services and IT solutions for government and commercial customers, has been invited by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to speak at its upcoming mHealth Summit, taking place December 3-5 at The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. This year’s annual summit, which is billed as the largest event where technology, business, research and policy connect, will highlight emerging best practices in mHealth implementations and research.
Ellumen’s chief security architect, Dennis M. Seymour, CISSP, ITIL, will present in a session titled, “Can You Understand Me Now? Interoperability and Standards” taking place December 3 at 2:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This panel will examine and discuss how open standards for interoperability are facilitating creativity and even more innovation in mHealth. Discussion will focus on the challenges and new pathways to building sustainable, scalable and interoperable products and healthcare systems.
“Mobile and other connected devices will continue to proliferate in healthcare, so it’s important to understand what risks they bring into networks and how to address these challenges,” said Dennis M. Seymour. “Mobile technology is advancing HIT and healthcare systems innovation like never before. Seymour has over 17 years of security experience in healthcare, including 12 years of at the enterprise level for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. His breadth in policy development, system controls assessment and certification, and medical device security policy development and compliance spans HIPAA, NIST, FISMA, and other requirements. Seymour is currently the chairperson for the HIMSS Privacy and Security Steering Committee, and has been a member of the HIMSS Medical Device Security Task Force, Mobile Security Work Group, and Risk Assessment Work Group.
Additional conference sessions will look at the ways in which mobile technology is transforming healthcare delivery, research, business and policy for the 21st century both in the U.S. and internationally.
