Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) November 04, 2012
T.W. Lewis Foundation's Jan and Tom Lewis will receive the 2012 Turn for Peace award, presented annually by Phoenix-area nonprofit ANASAZI Foundation to individuals who have made a lasting impact on the lives of families in need. The couple will receive the award November 15, 2012, at ANASAZI’s Scholarship Gala, which will feature an extended performance by country music superstar Wynonna Judd.
Held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Gilbert, Arizona, ANASAZI’s Scholarship Gala raises funds for financially challenged families seeking to save a son or daughter struggling with depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, or other behavioral and emotional concerns.
"Since 2000, Jan and Tom's work through the T.W. Lewis Foundation has sustained some of the Valley's most worthy charities – including Florence Crittenton, notMYkid, Arizona’s Children Association, and countless others," said ANASAZI executive director Mike Merchant. "We are honored to bestow this long-overdue award in recognition of these efforts and for Jan and Tom's unwavering support of young people in financial need, whether they are academically gifted or struggling to overcome the challenges faced by those at ANASAZI."
Past recipients of the Turn for Peace award include former First Lady Barbara Bush, NFL Hall of Fame quarterbacks Steve Young and Bart Starr, author Stephen R. Covey, entertainer Marie Osmond, Family Circus creator Bil Keane, and Wynonna, who received the honor in 2005.
The Scholarship Gala will be hosted by NFL legend Nick Lowery and will also highlight the remarkable stories of ANASAZI alumni – young people who have overcome significant personal challenges to rebuild family relationships and achieve goals that once seemed beyond their reach.
