Work-life balance is a cornerstone of our company’s track record of consistent, stable and sustainable growth.
Beltsville, MD (PRWEB) March 12, 2012
Vocus (NASDAQ: VOCS), a leading provider of cloud-based marketing and PR software, announced today that it has been named as a finalist twice by the Chesapeake Regional Technology Council (CRTC) in its annual TechAwards. Vocus is named as a finalist for Best Place to Work and for Technology Company of the Year.
The Tech Company of the Year Award recognizes companies that achieved significant milestones in the past year and demonstrated themselves to be forces in the local technology community. The Best Place to Work Award is awarded to a company that fosters innovation and creativity in its employees, provides benefits that encourage work/life balance, and works to inspire greatness in its employees.
Vocus has previously been named as one of the Great Places to Work by Washingtonian Magazine, one of the Best Places to Work by the Washington Business Journal and one of the 25 Fastest-Growing Companies by Forbes.com. Earlier this year, CEO and President Rick Rudman won the SmartCEO Magazine Future 50 award, awarded to the fastest-growing companies in the greater Washington area.
“Work-life balance is a cornerstone of our company’s track record of consistent, stable and sustainable growth,” says Cal Shilling, VP of Human Resources. “Now we’ve built an entire town-style headquarters to fill with the best and brightest talent. When we get the choice of meeting either in a conference room or a coffee house, depending on our mood, we actually get more work done. And when we can work hard but also play or relax or socialize, we’re happier employees.”
Last month, Vocus hosted the CRTC’s Tech Focus Seminar at the company’s headquarters in Beltsville, Maryland. The event focused on social media and how to use social media for research and development as well as gathering intelligence. Attendees also benefitted from advice from Vocus Product Managers regarding social media strategy. The Vocus product line offers marketing and PR professionals the ability to manage social media and incorporate it into their strategy.
A12-member CRTC selection committee examined the nominations before choosing finalists. Winners will be announced at the TechAwards event on March 29, 2012 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport.
Founded in 1992, formerly the Anne Arundel Tech Council, the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council is a non-profit membership organization supported by grants from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development from the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and enabled by sponsorships from our Titanium and Platinum sustaining sponsors and membership. The annual TechAwards recognize technology businesses throughout the Annapolis-Washington-Baltimore region that have demonstrated impressive growth, innovation and community service. A 12-member selection committee spent two weeks examining the nominations and criteria and then voted on the top contenders.
