The Foundation’s mission is to provide support to nonprofit organizations which work to improve the lives of Rhode Island residents and encourage safer and better communities for all.
Providence, RI (PRWEB) December 26, 2012
This holiday season, M&N staff nominated 5 local charities to participate in a contest to receive donations from the M&N Charitable Foundation. Over the summer, the partners and staff worked hard to establish the Foundation which is projected to raise over $25,000 this year. The firm is pleased, proud, and humbled by the fact that all Marasco & Nesselbush employees have chosen to participate, most by donating weekly to the Foundation. Their involvement, coupled with the generous contributions from the partners, Joseph P. Marasco and Donna M. Nesselbush, will fuel the Charitable Foundation’s support of the nonprofit sector for years to come. The partners and staff hope that their collective and continuing investment in the Foundation will have a meaningful impact on the quality of life of Rhode Island’s impoverished, injured, and disabled.
“Over the years, I have been honored to hear our clients’ personal stories, and help them overcome their legal obstacles. Now our Charitable Foundation will allow us to give back to the social service organizations which have helped so many of our clients and which do so much for the community,” said partner Joseph P. Marasco.
About the Contest
In October, the law firm’s employees nominated local charities that are doing wonderful work in our local communities and that could benefit from some well-deserved funds. On November 10, 2012, the law firm posted the top-five entries on the Marasco & Nesselbush Facebook page. Each post detailed the mission of the charity as well as a description of how the charity has touched the life of the employee who nominated it. In order to vote for the charity, a person had to "Like" the post.
The campaign ran through December 8th and we are pleased to announce The Samaritans of Rhode Island won the contest, with 265 “likes.” As a result, The Samaritans of Rhode Island will receive the first place donation of $5,000 from the Marasco & Nesselbush Charitable Foundation to advance their mission to “help reduce the incidents of suicide in Rhode Island through greater access to information and resources.” The Groden Center finished second with 109 “likes,” qualifying them to receive a $2,000 donation. The Lupus Foundation of New England, The Rhode Island Community Food Bank and McCauley House Ministries were also well “liked” and will each receive a donation of $1,000 to help further their mission in 2013.
Dedicated to Social, Economic & Personal Justice
The Social Security Disability and Personal Injury law firm of Marasco & Nesselbush, LLP has been blessed with growth and prosperity over the past decade, thanks in large part to the trust and confidence placed in the firm by its clients, medical providers, and social service organizations.
“Joe and I both went to law school in order to help people,” said partner Donna M. Nesselbush. “Our new Charitable Foundation will allow us to do just that, but in a different and unique way – by helping the organizations that often assist our clients and Rhode Islanders in need.”
In addition to the Facebook contest, inaugural donations have been made to Welcome House of South County; the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island; the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless.
