Two Management Consulting Awards For Deloitte

The winners at the inaugural 2012 Association of Management Consulting Firms awards included Deloitte. Big4.com looked at the various categories and noticed that in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, Deloitte professionals helped Interbrand extend its existing annual Best Global Brands ranking with the development of an extensive new ranking methodology on environmental sustainability performance. In the Transaction/Event-Driven category, Deloitte professionals helped the Operations and Systems group of the global financial firm, AIG, separate and divest more than 40 different business units – all at the same time and without disrupting the operation of the remaining AIG core.

ACCA and Deloitte partner to provide corporate reporting guidance in Singapore

Companies who are looking for direction as the corporate reporting scene in Singapore evolves were the beneficiaries of the fact that ACCA and Deloitte have partnered to provide guidance to them. Big4.com reported that one of the highlights during the event was a high level panel discussion on the impact of revisions and upcoming changes to the IFRS/FRS and new IFRS/FRS on the business and their probable impacts on companies’ results in 2012/13.

The forum also provided a review of upcoming changes to the IFRS/FRS and new IFRS/FRS which would have business implications. It also discussed key findings from the ACCA-Deloitte 2012 Survey: Impact of New/ Revised IFRS/FRS on Singapore Listed Companies.

Global commercial aircraft sector on the upswing

Big4.com reviewed a new Aerospace and Defence outlook from Deloitte and noticed a developing trend. According to the 2012 Global aerospace and defence outlook: A tale of two industries, launched by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited’s global manufacturing industry group, the commercial aircraft sector is likely to enter a prolonged up-cycle in production in 2012 as a result of increasing demand for leisure and business travel, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, and development of next-generation programmes addressing increasing fuel costs.

Gartner has profiled Deloitte’s approach to social media

Leading analyst firm Gartner has profiled the Deloitte member firms’ approach to social media in a new report, Managing Brand Risk Means Everyone Needs Social Media Education.

The report looks at Deloitte based on an internal study of the Deloitte United States member firm’s introduction of a mandatory social media training course to its approximately 51,000 U.S.-based personnel, which was also shared with DTTL’s 1,800 global professionals.

Cathy Benko, Managing Principal, Brand, Communications & Community, Deloitte United States (Deloitte Consulting LLP) was understandable pleased with the assessment.

“Deloitte as a network has placed significant emphasis on the importance of managing brand and reputation risks through the use of social media, and has worked to educate all member firm people on social best practices,” she said. “It is an honor to have this dedication to encouraging social media practices recognized by Gartner.”

Centre for Women in Politics and Public Leadership partners with Deloitte

A benchmark study of women’s leadership is underway where Deloitte is partnering with Carleton University. The report is similar in style to a 2009 White House report in the United States, and covers the current state of women’s leadership in key Canadian sectors, determine challenges and opportunities, and make recommendations about what key sectors and policy-makers can do to achieve a more gender-inclusive leadership.

Clare Beckton is working on the study with colleagues Pauline Rankin, Jennifer Stewart and Susan Phillips, director of Carleton’s School of Public Policy and Administration.

Canadian companies continued to demonstrate a leadership position and excellence in creating value through their M&A activities

Recently corporate executives and strategists as well as investment bankers, private equity firms and lawyers in advisory and underwriting roles in M&A were honoured at the fifth annual Canadian Dealmakers gala to celebrate the best M&A deals of 2011. Over $140,000 of net proceeds have been raised from the past galas for Junior Achievement of Canada in an effort to support youth financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship experiences.
