We think this is an invaluable opportunity to meet with and speak to local members of the export community.

Samuel Shapiro & Company, Inc., a 97-year old leader in regulatory compliance and global transportation, joins the Logistics & Compliance session for the Maryland Small Business & Technology Development Center’s (MDSBTDC) Second Annual Export Conference, hosted by the University of Baltimore’s Merrick School of Business on November 16, 2012, in Baltimore, MD.

MDSBTDC is a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration and the University of Maryland College Park, linking private enterprise, government, higher education and local economic development organizations to provide management, training and technical assistance to Maryland’s small businesses since 1988. Teaming up with MDSBTDC to host the conference is the University of Baltimore’s Merrick School of Business, which has been educating Maryland’s business community since its establishment in 1982.

Shapiro is no stranger to local educational initiatives. In 2010, the company and the University of Baltimore, two longstanding Baltimore institutions, created an International Business Scholar Program to provide academic and financial support for the next generation of supply chain industry leaders. The company has also contributed to the University’s Import and Export Management course, by providing guest speakers to educate students on global supply chain, regulatory compliance, and trade market research.

Matthew Kobussen, Shapiro’s Corporate Transportation Manager, will contribute to the conference’s Logistics & Compliance session, alongside Alex Koff of Whiteford, Taylor, & Preston; Sheila Quarterman of the Bureau of Industry & Security; and Todd Dolbin of The City of Baltimore Development Corporation. Other conference sessions include licensing and technology transfer, international financing, marketing/export planning, and intellectual property, among others.

"This is our second time speaking as part of the MD Small Business & Technology Development Center's annual export conference,” noted Kobussen. “We think this is an invaluable opportunity to meet with and speak to local members of the export community."
