Who Has The Remote? knows that moms like nothing better than spending time with their children. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, The Christian Science Monitor provided a list of budget-friendly gift ideas for moms. Another great idea for Mother’s Day is to spend quality time with Mom by having a nice meal and then settling down to watch a good movie via dish promotions. With this in mind, WhoHasTheRemote.com released the following list of Mom-approved movies to share with the family on her special day.
The Blind Side: Based on a true story, this film follows homeless teen Michael Oher as he finds his place in the world. Sandra Bullock won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy, the woman who helps Michael find his place in the world by giving him the motherly love he’s never had.
Freaky Friday: There are two versions to choose from, but whether the family prefers the Barbara Harris/Jodie Foster version or the Jamie Lee Curtis/Lindsay Lohan remake, the story has the classic “you just don’t get me” theme. A wish is mysteriously fulfilled, and Mom and daughter switch bodies and find out just how difficult life is when walking in the other’s shoes.
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood: Main character Siddalee (played by Sandra Bullock) has a somewhat tumultuous relationship with her mother, but she finds out that a girl always needs her mother. This film explores just how intense and complex mother-daughter relationships can be.
The Sound of Music: Julie Andrews plays would-be nun Maria in this classic. Instead of serving in the convent however, her calling is to be a governess to a household with seven scheming children and a widowed Austrian Naval officer. Though she isn’t the children’s biological mother, she develops a special bond with them and finds that she is a mom at heart.
Who Has The Remote? suggests spending quality time with the family this Mother’s Day by ending the day’s celebrations with one of these great films. Moms are sure to love the thought her children put into choosing the right film for her and the fact that they just want to spend time with her.
