Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible.

The birth control safety advocates at DrugRisk.com are announcing updated news for women who have used the contraceptive NuvaRing. The resource center has learned the first trial alleging the device caused blood clot injuries will start this summer.

DrugRisk was created to improve the safety of popular prescription drugs and devices by providing patients with the latest warnings, research, legal news and recalls. Visitors can find out if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

Health experts have linked contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives could relate to a 2.5 to 3-fold increased risk of blood clots*.

Due to the number of patients filing a NuvaRing lawsuit, approximately 1,097 cases have been consolidated to a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri. U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel recently scheduled the first trial to start in October**.

Now, DrugRisk has added information from the New Jersey Superior Court in Bergen County, where hundreds more cases reside. According to a Case Management Order dated March 5th, the first NuvaRing lawsuit trial there will begin on June 17, 2013. (Docket No. BER-L-3081-09 MT).

Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible.

Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
