We think that the best reward is having these students’ boldness and creativity acknowledged by their peers, mentors, and families, whether they won the contest or not.

FineTuxedos.com announced the grand prize winners of its nationwide prom proposal contest on Monday, April 1st. Rahul Bajaj of Academy of Information Technology and Engineering (AITE) won 20 tuxedos for his school, while Evan Galiffa of Upper Darby High School (UDHS) took home the coveted Calvin Klein designer tux.
High school students across the country participated in the contest, which aimed to alleviate the rising costs of attending the prom. The promposal entries varied in themes, from scavenger hunts to music videos and serenades. Rahul won for receiving the most social media attention, garnering over 1000 Facebook “Likes,” while Evan’s entry was chosen as best based on the overall criteria.
When asked what he would do with the 20 tuxes that he won for his school, Rahul explained, “Right now, we're trying to figure out how we can use these tuxedos to raise money and drop the cost for each prom ticket. I figured it would be a great way to give back to my class for everything they have done for me!”
Rahul’s promposal video features him singing “Smile” by Uncle Kracker in front of the entire student body. According to his friend, Sheryl Choi, it is the first big promposal anyone has ever witnessed at AITE, located in Stamford, CT.
Evan Galiffa described his win as “a great way to cap this whole experience, almost like one last grand hoorah before high school ends.”
Evan, of UDHS, located in PA, had his friends serenade his girlfriend with the song “Back At One” by Brian McKnight to ask her to their prom. He said that ever since he made his prom proposal, he has found himself overwhelmed by the compliments, excitement, and respect of his peers. Assistant Principal Heather King surprised Evan with the Calvin Klein tuxedo while he was on-air broadcasting the school’s daily news.
“Both of these students deserve to win because they really poured their hearts into their promposals. However, we think that the best reward is having these students’ boldness and creativity acknowledged by their peers, mentors, and families, whether they won the contest or not.” said Dennis Consorte, Marketing Manager of FineTuxedos.com.
