They started with gray-wash furniture and now use new mixed media and materials, like bone, stone, metal, and horn.

All eyes were on the fabulous handcrafted furniture offerings from Gabby, the three-year-old Summer Classics venture, as decorators and designers from across the country gathered in North Carolina this April for the annual spring market. Displaying the same commitment to quality as its Alabama based parent company, this latest division stole the show with its unique line of furniture and accessories that beautifully blends classic styles with modern flair.

Don White, National Sales Manager for Gabby, has been attending High Point markets for more than 30 years, and is pleased to see that the country’s current economic woes have not dampened the spirit of market goers. “You can see the market is returning to its vibrancy,” he says. “People are using the market again for what it is meant for—to see new indoor furniture products and trends and to develop vendor relationships.”

And new products are right up Gabby’s alley. The company is constantly conducting market research to best serve their loyal customers as well as draw in new buyers who love the look of transitional style furniture and appreciate superior craftsmanship. Says Don, “Gabby’s team has a terrific intuitive nature about design and the type of products that fit Gabby’s brand. They started with gray-wash furniture and now use new mixed media and materials, like bone, stone, metal, and horn. People want something different, something to be stimulated by.”

One look at Gabby’s inventory and it’s obvious they’ve hit the mark. Market sales were up significantly, thanks to innovative designs that employ reclaimed wood, metal, and burlap, as well as more traditional styles reminiscent of classic European furniture. Buyers—particularly those in the Millennial generation—are able to invest in key foundation pieces to anchor their home’s decor then build upon those pieces with lighting and accessories to complete the look. Gabby perfectly caters to the Millennial aesthetic preferences. “Our president, William White, is of this generation,” explains Don, “and he has nailed it. We are on the leading edge of what is happening in the home furnishings business today.”

Look for Gabby to continue to grow its line of reproduced vintage furniture aimed at customers who appreciate the signature quality and hand-crafted details that have made a name for both Summer Classics and this savvy and sophisticated offshoot.
