Optio Data will provide pre-sales and delivery services in the Midwest with specializations in:
Dell PowerEdge rack and blade servers
PowerVault, EqualLogic & Compellent iSCSI, FC & FCoE SAN products
Dell AppAssure back-up software & CommVault disk appliances
PowerConnect, Force10 and SonicWALL line of networking switches, routers and firewalls
VMware & Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms
Still evolving from a direct sales model, Dell has intensified efforts to build out its channel strategy in recent years. Having spent billions acquiring technology companies to round out their enterprise portfolio, Dell knows it is going to need a network of enterprise-level channel partners if they hope to execute on all of these strategic investments. At a recent conference, Michael Dell was quoted as saying, “You put it all together and it’s a different Dell than the one we had five years ago…but we can’t do it all ourselves.” When referring to the channel strategy, he continued: “We see it growing. As we expand into new markets it tends to be partner-driven and partner-centric.”
When asked what was behind the strategy to form Optio Data, Optio’s VP of Communications stated: “We realized soon after becoming a Dell partner that the market was different. Dell’s current model gives us the opportunity to improve the customer experience by managing inconsistent lead times and simplifying the vast array of products and customer service pipeline. By forming Optio Data, we will bring a cohesive message, consistent pricing, pre-sales support and implementation services to the Dell customer. We will make the Dell relationship stronger."
