Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) has just been acknowledged as meeting the highest educational and professional standards for degree-granting institutions in the country. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), located at 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, reaffirmed P.I.T.’s accreditation through 2016.

MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. MSCHE is recognized as the most prestigious accreditation group for all colleges and universities within the mid-Atlantic region. With this reaffirmation, P.I.T. ranks alongside other local higher education institutions such as University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Pennsylvania State University and Temple University.

Founded in 1953 by Walter R. Garrison, P.I.T. provides a comprehensive education, enabling students to pursue professional careers or continue their education by transferring to a four-year college or university and obtaining a bachelor’s degree. The MSCHE distinction underscores Pennsylvania Institute of Technology’s commitment to providing a quality collegiate and career-enhancing education to driven students.

“We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment,” said Dr. Robert Hancox, Dean of Academic Affairs, “The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1983. We deliberately choose to be accredited by the organization with the toughest and most comprehensive standards. Year after year, MSCHE has recognized our dedication to the best education for our students.”

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology two-year associate degrees and career certificate programs have allowed recent graduates to obtain careers in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Nursing and Health Care, at companies such as Boeing, Hewlett Packard, PECO/Exelon, University of Pennsylvania Health System, and Jefferson Hospital. Other recent graduates have gone on to obtain bachelor’s degrees at four-year universities or colleges, including Drexel, Temple, Penn State, Howard, Widener, West Chester, Neumann, Immaculata, and La Salle Universities. The accreditation by Middle States is a major factor in these universities accepting college credits from P.I.T. graduates. By combining experiential learning and a professional caring faculty and staff, P.I.T. provides a unique learning experience for all students.

Mr. Garrison credits teamwork and the commitment of the entire college community for achieving the long history of positive accreditation results. “The accreditation process, and our adherence to the exacting standards of MSCHE has enabled P.I.T. to emerge as a stronger institution, better prepared to meet the needs of our students, our businesses and our community. Our mission at P.I.T. is ‘Student Success’, and the Middle States accreditation process has helped us consistently achieve that mission.”
