IT Staffing Agency Founder Mark Klaers dons goalie equipment, keeps NHL All-Stars sharp during recent lockout.

Mark Klaers is an IT professional and the founder of TechAgents Inc., an IT staffing agency. He's also bruised and battered from spending hours on the ice stopping pucks from NHL All-Stars during the recent labor lockout.

"It's an incredible rush playing against athletes of this caliber," Klaers says of his experience practicing with NHL stars including Zach Parise, Dustin Byfuglien and others. "These guys are so down to earth, but also extremely competitive."

Klaers, who played collegiate hockey at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, is better known for his work in the IT Staffing industry. He's the co-founder of TechAgents Inc., a Minneapolis IT staffing agency that works with clients including UnitedHealth and General Mills.

"He's doing really well, he's probably the best replacement goalie that we've found so far," Parise said of Klaers' work in goal. "He's even beat (Minnesota Wild starting goalie Nicklas) Backstrom in a couple of games."

Klaers, who got connected to the group of NHL stars through a mutual friend, will never forget the experience, though he admits it was hard to keep up with the speed of the game.

"I don't even know who's coming at me half the time," Klaers said of his work on the ice. "I just try to stay focused on the puck. I'd get too nervous if I knew who was coming at me."
