Tacoma, WA (PRWEB) January 02, 2013
The specially designed and decorated holiday tree exhibit principally sponsored by La Bella Nail Spa, a well known and regarded nail salon located in the historic stadium business district of Tacoma, WA, drew a handsome auction price during the 26th annual Festival of Trees gala event on November 30, 2012. In exchange for their generous donation toward medical care and advancements for children, highest bidders Mady and Lonny Murrey, took home an exquisitely adorned tree, a new Dragon Red Vespa, and an all expense paid and personally escorted, 10-day tour for two through the beautiful country of Vietnam. The package also included a digital camera, custom photo book and gift certificates for use during the trip.
“Lonny and I are passionate about the care that children receive at Mary Bridge and we know it takes an entire community of support to make this care happen,” stated Mady Murrey, highest bidder and Chief Operations Officer at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center, “When we learned this package included a Vespa and a trip to Vietnam with Tuan and Cici, we were thrilled to bid as high as possible to ensure their generosity would raise a significant contribution. The Ngo’s are giving and dear people in this community and we are excited to share their native culture and homeland with them.”
The renowned Festival of Trees auction event benefits the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center, who is the only pediatric hospital in the Pacific Northwest and one of 12 hospitals in the U.S. to be named a Top Children’s Hospital by the Leapfrog Group. The 26 year old charity effort has raised over 20 million dollars to aide children’s care and research at the Tacoma-based state-of-the-art facility, and has become an anticipated holiday tradition each year for regional philanthropists and local community members alike. The overall festival includes a series of smaller events that include public viewing days, as well as several live and silent-auction evenings, including a formal gala where approximately 70 creatively designed tree packages are auctioned to bidders.
While the festival has historically attracted a number of prominent business sponsors, such as Weyerhauser and Alaska Airlines, it is rare to see a small business like La Bella contribute a comparatively valued package. Through the help of co-sponsors and professional design volunteers, Tammy Hall, Christy Lineweave, Tanja Bishop, and Dr. Edward Rich Guild, the La Bella tree/Vespa combination was valued over $15,500. Artfully designed around the Vietnamese theme “An Asian Dragon Awaits” the tree décor captured the vibrancy and energy of the Vietnamese country, known for its many brilliant colors. The package and exhibit drew much interest and ultimately raised $13,000, making it one of the signature producers at the 2012 gala event.
“Cici and I were thrilled to have this amazing opportunity to sponsor a Festival tree and raise such an enormous contribution toward an important charity dedicated to children’s health,” Tuan Ngo, owner of La Bella Nail Spa stated, “We are a close knit family of five who believes that the values of maintaining a strong family are what ensures a community can become and remain strong. This opportunity was a great honor for our business and our family.”
The Murrey’s Vietnam trip will take place in January 2014 with spa owners, Tuan and Cici Ngo, personally hosting the entire expedition. They will provide the Murrey’s, and approximately 15 other friends and clients, a personalized tour through the stunning and picturesque Vietnam countryside. The tour will begin in the Ngo’s hometown city, Vung Tau, with the entire 10-day excursion involving extensive tours through the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as a two-day cruise through beautiful Halong Bay. Tuan and Cici are excited to present the scenic country to their American friends and clients through the eyes of the Vietnamese people.
