The companies will work on several high-profile projects, including projects funded by the Department of Energy and California Energy Commission to demonstrate OpenADR 2.0 in industrial settings.

AutoGrid Systems, a leader in Big Data analytics and software services for empowering utilities and end-users to control power consumption and costs, has selected the Energy and Sustainability Division of Premier Alliance Group, Inc., (OTCQB: PIMO) a strategic advisory, services, and solutions firm, to partner on providing Big Data analytics and automated demand response services to large commercial and industrial customers in California.

The companies will collaborate on a number of projects to manage electricity related data and power consumption using AutoGrid’s Energy Data Platform (EDP) and Demand Response Optimization and Management System (DROMS), and in so doing help these facilities realize substantial financial savings while providing benefits to all utility customers through reduced power demand on the electric grid. The projects will also demonstrate how such facilities can also participate in new and emerging programs such as fast-responding ancillary services to support large-scale integration of renewable generation.

As part of this partnership, the two companies will work closely with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on two AutoGrid projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and California Energy Commission funded for developing next generation of demand response technologies.

Premier Alliance’s Energy and Sustainability division is a qualified service provider for demand response programs throughout California, providing site assessment, feasibility studies, project development, engineering, and installation of enabling technologies, including complete processing of all utility documents. Automated demand response dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of demand response and demand management by automating these functions through software controls. More than 80 companies have joined the OpenADR Alliance to advance interoperable standards and specifications for automated demand response. DROMS obtained certification for the new OpenADR 2.0a profile specification in November.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Premier Alliance to leverage their decades of industry experience and exceptional engineering staff to help with the site enablement of high-end commercial and industrial facilities so that these facilities can participate in programs being offered by their service providers in a cost-effective manner,” said Dr. Amit Narayan, founder and CEO of AutoGrid.

AutoGrid’s DROMS is a cloud-based demand management optimization system that employs company’s EDP to analyze vast amount of data being generated by sensors and meters deployed in modern commercial and industrial facilities and uses real-time predictive analytics to accurately forecast individual electricity demand. The near-term personalized forecasts permit large power consumers to securely shift power consumption to meet financial or operational goals. Requiring no additional hardware, DROMS can cut the cost of demand response systems by 90 percent while increasing the “yield” of power from demand response events by 30 percent.

“Big Data analytics and automated controls can enable large industrial customers to significantly reduce their power bills by intelligently and dynamically controlling power consumption, particularly during peak periods,” said Rob Davis, Senior Vice President of Energy Services for Premier Alliance. “AutoGrid’s technology is a big leap in the state of the art of implementing low-cost, low-risk demand response at these facilities.”

“The successful completion of these projects has far reaching implications,” said Dave Watson, Program Manager at Berkeley Lab. “Not only will it provide much needed jobs and revenue within the state of California, but it will also introduce an innovative technology that will drastically reduce the cost of real time demand response management and pave the way for smoothly integrating distributed generation capacity into the grid.”
