MissTravel.com, the number one destination dating website, released the Top 15 Play Date Destinations, today. By surveying 7,000 single parents, MissTravel.com found the best adult and family friendly vacation destinations for single parents in the United States. Most travel destinations only cater to either families or singles. MissTravel.com conducted the study to help single parents, who travel agencies alienate, by finding destinations suitable for single parents looking for safe fun and possibly romance.

"Single parents get a bad rep--to add insult to injury, most travel destinations only cater to either families or singles," says Brandon Wade, CEO and Founder of MissTravel.com. “We decided to help them out by finding the best play date destinations for single parents.”

According to the U.S. Census Bureau in July 2012 approximately 13.6 million unmarried parents were living with their children in 2011. MissTravel.com has more than 13,797 men and 20,123 women on the website who explicitly state on their profiles that they had one or more children, regardless of their relationship status.

Factors that defined a destination’s appeal to both a single parent and their children were: nightlife, activities, travel packages, and demographic. In an effort to solve the single parent dilemma when it comes to traveling, MissTravel.com conducted a survey using the best judges: single parents.
The following are the Top 15 Play Date Destinations of the United States.

1.    Myrtle Beach (Myrtle Beach, SC)
2.    Navy Pier (Chicago, IL)
3.    Aulani A Disney Resort (Kapolei, HI)
4.    Busch Gardens (Tampa, FL)
5.    Mall of America (Bloomington, MN)
6.    SeaWorld (San Diego, CA)
7.    Lake Tahoe (CA and Nevada border)
8.    Park City (Utah)
9.    Disneyworld (Orlando, Florida)
10.    Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
11.    Long Beach Marina (Long Beach, CA)
12.    Big Bear Lake (Big Bear, CA)

“Many single parents feel out of place when surrounded by two parent families,” says Wade. “This is part of the reason why they skip vacations all together. By releasing our member approved list, we want to open travel agencies’ eyes so they will start catering their packages for single parents also.”

The worst destinations for “Play Date Vacations” were Times Square (New York City, NY), the Grand Canyon (Coconino, AZ), and Fisherman’s Wharf (San Francisco, CA). These destinations fell short either when it came to children’s or their single parent’s needs. Times Square rated low with single parents who found the Big Apple’s main hub had a dismal single parent ratio and was difficult to navigate when totting a tired tot. Fisherman’s Wharf was entertaining for children, but had little meeting spots for single parents, while the Grand Canyon was rated overall most boring “Play Date Destination” for both parents and children.
