Low Profile Scorpion Connector Provides Flexibility to Customers

Positronic Industries is pleased to announce the addition of a new low-profile version of its popular Scorpion power/signal connector. The 8.20 millimeter connector allows customers to maximize size, weight and power reductions.
According to Positronic Industries, three main characteristics make the new low-profile Scorpion product unique. First, the connector’s modular tool design allows for nearly limitless variety of customer-defined contact arrangements. Second, the molding process yields a one-piece insulator. Third, customers can define the connector width as long as the maximum envelope of 101.0 millimeters is not exceeded.

The low-profile Scorpion provides customers the opportunity to configure a power/signal connector from a wide selection of modules. Module options include size 12 contacts, size 20 contacts, size 22 contacts and blanks/spacers. Contacts are rated up to 55 amps for size 12, 12 amps for size 20 and three amps for size 22 contacts. Blanks/spacers allow customers to space power and signal contacts to tailor creepage and clearance values to meet design criteria.

In addition to contact terminations that include board-to-board, board-to-cable, cable-to-cable and panel mount options, additional features and accessories of the low-profile Scorpion include ventilation slots in the connector housing, an integral blind mate system, integral locking system, float mounts, panel mount clips and board locks.
