“This book is to inspire people to recover from any illness,” writes Penman, who also urges readers to learn from their mistakes and listen to their bodies.

In his new memoir, “Andrew Penman's Long Unwinding Road: An Inspiring Story of Natural Self-Healing” (published by AuthorHouse), author and brain injury survivor Andrew Penman reveals his struggles and triumphs in overcoming a crippling accident.

In March 1989 Penman was hit by a car. He suffered severe internal injuries, including a potentially fatal brain injury. Penman spent 4 and half weeks in a coma and 5 months in hospital leaving hospital in a wheelchair and training himself out of the wheelchair. During the years following the accident, he embarked on a long and arduous road to recovery. He chronicles this journey in his new memoir, which includes his discovery of the Japanese martial art of Aikido and how the art form has powered his healing.

“This book is to inspire people to recover from any illness,” writes Penman, who also urges readers to learn from their mistakes and listen to their bodies.

After reading “Andrew Penman's Long Unwinding Road,” Penman hopes readers gain a keener ability to recognize self-created limitations and then eliminate them from their thinking. States Penman: “I hope readers take away the knowledge and belief that nothing is impossible.”

About the Author
From a young age, Andrew Penman knew that he would suffer an accident that would lead him to physical and spiritual heights. “People with damage to the right temporal lobe are partially psychic,” he notes, adding that this also puts one in a mildly euphoric state. After attending a psychic talk at the student’s union, he was told that he was a sorcerer in a previous life. A Peron with a Brain Injury has a weak Bladder and he cured it by Sweating Profusely in Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) which is done in a heated room where you have to mimic the instructor and you'd sweat profusely.

Andrew Penman's Long Unwinding Road” is Penman’s first published work.
