"Through this campaign, with Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables song, I Like Your Shoes, we would like to remind people they can walk in someone else’s shoes by volunteering with New York Cares"
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 05, 2013
Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables will launch its “I Like Your Shoes NY” campaign at a performance to benefit New York Cares.
The launch event will take place on January 12, 2013 at 8pm at Arlene’s Grocery, 95 Stanton Street, New York, NY. This event will also feature performances by Shiksa and Tracy Thorne. Patrons that bring shoes or coats to donate will pay no cover charge, and Arlene’s Grocery and the performing bands will donate 100% of ticket sales/cover charges to benefit New York Cares and its affiliate organizations. This event is the launch of a series of benefits Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables will hold in 2013 as “I Like Your Shoes” recording and video are released. They plan to perform in major cities throughout the Northeast and Midwest, all of which will benefit local charities.
New York Cares is New York City’s largest volunteer organization. New York Cares runs vital programs for 1,300 nonprofits, public schools, and city agencies to help people in need throughout the five boroughs. As New York City's lead agency for mobilizing volunteers in response to disasters, the organization has been working around the clock to bring post-Hurricane Sandy aid where it is needed most. Every dollar donated to New York Cares amounts to $6 in service to the community.
“We appreciate having a New York band call attention to the ongoing needs of other New Yorkers.,” said Gary Bagley, New York Cares Executive Director. “Through this campaign, with Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables song, I Like Your Shoes, we would like to remind people they can walk in someone else’s shoes by volunteering with New York Cares.”
“We love the idea of using our latest song as a theme to do some good, particularly for those affected by Hurricane Sandy in the New York area,” said Jaclyn Dima. “We have been performing this song live, and as we head into the studio to record it, we wanted to get people involved in some way. Whether people donate shoes, money, or would like to volunteer their time, New York Cares is a great resource to help get New Yorkers involved.”
Dima added, “We’re also grateful to Arlene’s Grocery for contributing their share to the cause and providing such a welcoming venue for our cause.”
